Theresa Nyabeze currently holds the position of Past President for the WISE Sudbury chapter. Theresa, a graduate from Laurentian University, is a Professional Mining Engineer who works underground as a frontline supervisor. She lives in the capital city of mining of the world, Greater Sudbury, ON, Canada. Theresa’s passions lie in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers, as well as encouraging mentoring as a way of promoting her profession and encouraging people to enter and stay working in the mining industry. Outside of work, she can be found at local rinks cheering her kids’ hockey team, hanging out with her nieces and nephews, or courtside at the kids’ basketball games.
Simone Hensher currently holds the position of President for the WISE Sudbury chapter. She has lived in Sudbury for over 20 years and is a graduate of Laurentian University’s Mining Engineering Program. She has a passion for encouraging women to consider a career in mining. Simone is currently Chief Mine Engineer at Glencore-Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operation’s Fraser Mine. She spends weekends at the hockey rink watching her daughter in net or at the theatre watching her son perform.
Brianne Beaulieu currently holds the position of Vice President for the WISE Sudbury chapter. Brianne spent most of her life in Vancouver, B.C., and attended UBC where she studied Geological Sciences and Geography. Brianne has over 10 years experience in the mining industry specializing in resource geology and mining software. She currently works at Deswik as the Mining Technical Support Lead. In her spare time, Brianne loves to travel, cook, snowboard, train for triathlons and be outdoors.
Eleanor Magdzinski is the current Treasurer for the WISE Sudbury chapter. She was born in Montreal, Quebec and spent her youth in Wilmington, Delaware and North Bay, Ontario. Eleanor holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in mining from Laurentian University and both a Bachelor of Science (Honours) (HBSc.) and a Master of Science (MSc.) in chemistry from The University of Western Ontario. She is currently employed by Glencore’s Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations as a mining engineer intern training. Being the daughter of two chemists, a career in the STEM fields has always been a natural progression for Eleanor. She is excited to participate in outreach programs with WISE to encourage other young women to pursue careers in these areas. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, playingsoccer, spending time outdoors, and practicing yoga.
Christine Legrand currently holds the position of Secretary for the WISE Sudbury chapter. Born and raised in Sudbury, Christine studied at Laurentian University specializing in geology and geochemistry and holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) (B.Sc.). She currently works at Science North as a Staff Scientist at Dynamic Earth. She has been and continues to be heavily involved in science-focused volunteer organizations since her time in High School and continues to be a strong advocate for STEM and STEAM in the community. As a lover of music, Christine spends her spare time learning and playing a variety of instruments and helping her daughter do the same.
