Brianne Valdes currently holds the position of Past President for the WISE Sudbury chapter.  Brianne spent most of her life in Vancouver, B.C., and attended UBC where she studied Geological Sciences and Geography.  Brianne has over 10 years of experience in the mining industry specializing in resource geology and mining software. She currently works at Deswik as the Mining Technical Support Lead.  In her spare time, Brianne loves to travel, cook, snowboard, train for triathlons, and be outdoors.

 Eleanor Magdzinski is the current President of the WISE Sudbury chapter. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, and spent her youth in Wilmington, Delaware, and North Bay, Ontario. Eleanor holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in mining from Laurentian University and both a Bachelor of Science (Honours) (HBSc.) and a Master of Science (MSc

 Eleanor Magdzinski is the current President of the WISE Sudbury chapter. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, and spent her youth in Wilmington, Delaware, and North Bay, Ontario. Eleanor holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in mining from Laurentian University and both a Bachelor of Science (Honours) (HBSc.) and a Master of Science (MSc.) in chemistry from The University of Western Ontario. She is currently employed by Glencore’s Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations as a mining engineer intern training. Being the daughter of two chemists, a career in the STEM fields has always been a natural progression for Eleanor. She is excited to participate in outreach programs with WISE to encourage other young women to pursue careers in these areas. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing soccer, spending time outdoors, and practicing yoga.

Upon receiving her B.Sc. from the Mining Engineering program at the University of Tehran in 2013, she moved to Sudbury to start her MSc studies at Laurentian University, funded by MIRARCO. In 2015, upon finishing h

Negar Saeidi currently holds the position of Vice-President for the WISE Sudbury chapter.  Negar was born and raised in Iran. Upon receiving her B.Sc. from the Mining Engineering program at the University of Tehran in 2013, she moved to Sudbury to start her MSc studies at Laurentian University, funded by MIRARCO. In 2015, upon finishing her MSc studies, she established her career in the mining industry as a researcher and worked her way up. Negar is passionate about promoting mining and encouraging the engagement of broader skill sets in the industry. Currently, she is a professional engineer with Vale’s North Atlantic Technical Services – Ventilation Design Team.  Negar spends her spare time doing outdoor activities such as ice-skating, stand-up paddling, and hiking. She never misses long video chats with her family on weekends.

  Rachel currently holds the position of Secretary for the WISE Sudbury chapter.  Rachel grew up in the GTA before moving to Sudbury to attend Laurentian University where she studied Physics and Education. During her time as an undergraduate student, Rachel pursued her passion for particle physics by obtaining summer student research posi

  Rachel currently holds the position of Secretary for the WISE Sudbury chapter.  Rachel grew up in the GTA before moving to Sudbury to attend Laurentian University where she studied Physics and Education. During her time as an undergraduate student, Rachel pursued her passion for particle physics by obtaining summer student research positions with the SNO+ experiment at SNOLAB. She also had the opportunity to work at the Large Hadron Collider located at CERN in Switzerland for a summer. Currently, Rachel works as a STEM professor at Cambrian College and continues her work for the SNO+ experiment. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outside, playing soccer, and crocheting.
